Scanography

Hobby Time, 1-13-2011, images taken with HP scanner, Edited in CS5.

The above three images were all scanned in to the computer to create the above Hobby Time, as well I inserted a picture that I took this last year. I combined the images by dragging them all to one image and creating different layers. I also added masks to some of the images in order to hide certain elements that I did not want and to blend the images together.

Abstract, 02-10-2011, The two above images are a before and after the first is my original scan and the second is what happens when your scanner lid falls. For these two images I laid plastic wrap down in the scanner and then poured color water on top of it then blew it with a straw. Luckily before the scan I also put plastic wrap on the cover as well so when it fell it splattered the water and gave me the above image.

 

 

 

 

S’more Fun, 02-10-2011, This image was first taken as 4 separate images then merged together and edited to the above panoramic. Using the photo merge tool in CS5 did not work so I had to merge it manually after which I used the clone tool to remove the seams as well as fix some areas.

In this picture there are some subtle changes, I took off a scratch on his nose and cleaned up around his nose as well using the healing brush.

Replace Color

This picture I used match color to change the color of the ball pit that he is sitting in to blue. In order to do this I first selected the area that I wanted to change the color on then went to match color and chose an existing blue to change the color.

Laugh was the picture that I used to match the color of to Smile, to do this I went to adjustments and choose match color.

Goldeneye, Saint Anthony, ID, 1-27-2011, 4:30 pm, f/5.6, 1/250 sec, Canon T2i 250mm. Golden eye was edited in Camera Raw for this image I adjusted the vibrance and saturation all the way down and adjusted the exposure up just a little. Then I added an effect to it using vignetting.

The above photos show the original and the edits to photos that were edited as RAWs and JPGs in Camera Raw.  For a JPG image you first need to open the image in Bridge then from there you can open it in Camera Raw. If your image is a raw then double clicking it will first open in Camera Raw.

All the above pictures were taken and then turned into panoramas. Turning the pictures into a panoramic was the simple part, more complicated than that was using content aware to fill in the missing portions of the picture. First in order to merge your pictures together to create a panoramic is to go to file, automate, then photo-merge. At this point you have the options as to what pictures you want to merge and how you want the photos to merge. After your panoramic is created you can adjust the picture any way you want then flatten the image in order to use the content aware feature. To fill in your missing pieces of your shot first select the area that needs to be fixed then select edit, fill, and the default option content aware hit ok and either for the good or the bad your blank area is now filled. (With all of the above photos I fixed the exposure and ISO.)
