Goldeneye, Saint Anthony, ID, 1-27-2011, 4:30 pm, f/5.6, 1/250 sec, Canon T2i 250mm. Golden eye was edited in Camera Raw for this image I adjusted the vibrance and saturation all the way down and adjusted the exposure up just a little. Then I added an effect to it using vignetting.

The above photos show the original and the edits to photos that were edited as RAWs and JPGs in Camera Raw.  For a JPG image you first need to open the image in Bridge then from there you can open it in Camera Raw. If your image is a raw then double clicking it will first open in Camera Raw.

All the above pictures were taken and then turned into panoramas. Turning the pictures into a panoramic was the simple part, more complicated than that was using content aware to fill in the missing portions of the picture. First in order to merge your pictures together to create a panoramic is to go to file, automate, then photo-merge. At this point you have the options as to what pictures you want to merge and how you want the photos to merge. After your panoramic is created you can adjust the picture any way you want then flatten the image in order to use the content aware feature. To fill in your missing pieces of your shot first select the area that needs to be fixed then select edit, fill, and the default option content aware hit ok and either for the good or the bad your blank area is now filled. (With all of the above photos I fixed the exposure and ISO.)

Orange Sun Set Edit, 1-23-2011 about 6:00pm, Rexburg, ID. f/18, 1/60 sec. Canon T2i, 250mm.

With the Orange Sunset I used an adjustment layer to brighten the foreground and the clouds to have more of the picture visible. I chose a a level adjustment layer and the linear dodge blend mode to lighten the whole picture. Then clicking on the mask followed by the paint brush using a soft brush I just brushed over the color in the sun set.

Ski Tracks

Ski Path Edit, 1-17-2011 2:30pm, Hairman State Park, ID. f/6.3, 1/200 sec. Canon T2i.

The first thing that I did to the Ski Path photo was to turn it into a smart object then I played around with the filters and chose to add a dust and scratches filter. After that I followed the same steps that I took with Orange Sun Set except I used the multiply blending mode. Then I used the brush to brush over just the trees in order to allow the ski tracks to pop out.

Color Study / Blends & Type

IMG_0238

Art, January 15, 2011, 11:30 am, BYU Idaho Campus Rexburg, ID. f/3.5, 1/30 sec. Canon T2i.

ART

Art, Edited, This image is basically the same as the original the only additions that I made was first an overlay with an ever so slight reddish tint to bring out the rust color a little. I also added type, to do so I just chose what font style, size, color I wanted. Followed by placing the type and then setting it as an overlay so that it would blend in.

Using multiple layers and images I created this image with a little blending. There are different ways to blend the way I went about it was to start with my main image with no edits. I then added a solid color fill layer as an overlay to change the color just a little. after witch I added my own texture layer “rust” dragging selected pixels on top of my main image. followed by adding a couple more adjustment layers for color and style.

THE HOW TO

Editing both of these pictures were very similar the main process in both of these pictures to get the cut out is to use the quick selection tool in Photoshop. Following that step is to use the refine the edges tool to get a smooth sharp image. both of the pictures also require different layers in order to remove the background images the full cut out only required one extra layer while the partial cutout requires three layers with a little rearranging to manage the partial cutout. The last step for both images was to flatten and save.
